So many Themes come together in this segment: Points of Light, The Wind,
Control, Outside/Inside, The Transition, The Nativity, The Change. It's
enough to boggle, but maybe that's the POINT...

Lets reverse, for a moment, some qoutes from our GRGR:

-----
(137.14) In recent days, at certain hours, a round white light, quite
intense {..} no one knew what the white light signified.
-----
(90.32) reciprocal induction [..] One bright, burning point, surrounded by
darkness. [...] He [Pavlov] called it a "point of pathological inertia."
[...] Pavlov thought that all the diseases of the mind could be explained,
eventually, by the ultrapaadoxical phase, the pathologically inert points
on the cortex, the confusion of the opposites.
-----
(30.11) "Once transected into the realm of Dominus Blicero, Roland found
that all the signs had turned against him... Lights he has studied so well
as any one of you, position and movement, now gathered there at the
opposite end, all in dance... irrelevant dance. none of Blicero's
traditional progress, no something new... alien..."
-----

Pointsman dreams of a single light in the sky whose movement signified
good, or at least benign, normally. But the change of pattern signifies
something bad, in the future. Roland's previously very studied lights,
after "transect[ing] into the realm of Dominus Blicero, [...] now gathered
there at the opposite end [...] alien." Pavlov's concept of ultraparadox:
"confusion of oposites: burning [but he saw only inert] points of light"
[ON the cortex. Is the cortex Inside or Outside?] amidst vast darknesses.

-----
(30.24) "It's control. All these things [including Roland's failure before
death to perceive the "joyous" wind] arise from one difficulty: control.
For the first time it was _inside_, do you see. The control is put inside.
[...] Putting the control inside was ratifying what defacto had happened -
that you had dispensed with God. But you had taken on a greater illusion.
The illusion of control [...] A and B are unreal, are names for parts that
ought to be inseperable...
-----
(141.40) Kevin Spectro did not differentiate as much as he between Outside
and Inside. He saw the cortex as an interface organ, mediating [not
separating] between the two, but _part of them both_.
-----

These separators are the evil. They are the agents of control, the killers
of God: Illusury as he was, God(s) held back the greater Evil/Illusion.
Man should not try to be God; control is beyond him (Man, and God too).
The One-ness of the Whole will prove to rule.

Other related asides:

1. These points of light are constellations, duh. The Nativity involves
_signifying_ points of light, recognized only by the Magi (Magicians, Wise
Men). Discuss...

2. "Dispensed with God" is a sideways reference to the Biblical concept of
"dispensations" in the history/future of the Cosmos. "Dispensations" are
periods of time ruled by a king or some other form of rule. We are
presently (according to some interpretations of The Text) in the
"Dispensation of Man," where God has stepped aside for a time. Next
dispensation is that of the BAD GUY: Blicero?. Then comes big bonfire of
all vanities, and the Dispensation of Christ...
