     JL writes about the peaceful love-making hideaways of Roger and 
     Jessica and Winston Smith and Julia.
     
     I'll add that Jessica's rejection of Roger has always reminded me of 
     Julia's (post-discovery) rejection of Winston, cropped hair and all.
