Or much further.  I see the War going back at least as far as pre-Renaissance
Italy (at least to Cesare Borgia whom TRP names in V).  No doubt this is just the
tip of the iceburg, but I think he is very interested in the history of capital
and the way things began synthesizing at that time.  It's no coincidence that the
Catholic church played no small role (at that time). . .
