When I look at the following lines from (6)
" Got a hardon in my fist,
Don´t be pissed ,
Re-enlist-
Snap - to Slothrop",
I automatically think of the conditioning Slothrop went through as a baby,
with his errection being his reaction to whatever stimuli came in. Could it
be that in this passage Slothrop subconsciously reinvokes pictures from that
earlier phase of his life? The whole medical atmosphere in the hospital in
addition to the drugs poor little S gets injected could certainly work that
way...
