It sure is ... Malcolm X worked as a shoeshine boy in the Roseland Ballroom,
and was known as Red. About 15 years ago I read Malcolm X's autobiography
directly after a read of GR and was shaken by this discovery. It was
something of an epiphany, a realisation of how much depth there is in the
novels. (Something this forum has regularly confirmed for me over the last
couple of years)
