On a related subject, anybody else think that TRP's reference to "tyrosine"
on p. 71 might be a clue about how to read Slothrop's name, "Tyrone"?
Tyrosine metamorphoses into melanin, rendering visible a previously
invisible message, after application of "seminal fluid".
This seems a good a guess and, in any case, the cited paragraph seems rife
with clues: that the paragraph was written by Jamf, he who conditioned baby
Tyrone and created not only Kyptosam, but Imipolex G; that baby Tyrone's
conditioned reflex was his erections; that Kryptosam is active in the
presence of semen; that Tyrone personally bleaches, i.e., his melanin fades
(for some reason). Other ticklers: "some component ... *to date [1934]
unidentified"*; "No other *known* reagent"; "... knowledge of addressee's
psychosexual profile ..."
A string of red herrings, perhaps, but a nice catch by the Millison.
Two additional notes. OKW: Oberkommando der Wehrmacht (Armed Forces High
Command); tyrosine is actual, an amino acid formed by the breakdown of
protein, as when cheese rots.
