"Here's another "why" question: Why 'PISCES?'"
Back when I hosted GRGR (2) I posted a lengthy exploration of possible
Pisces connections in honor of the first mention of PISCES. Both
Weisenburger and Allen Ruchs at the Great Quail's site insist that the
sign of Pisces "rules" the "Beyond the Zero" section. I tried to find
out why this might be and discovered some arguable connections that, if
valid connections at all, I believe only amounted to the sort of
games-playing Pynchon does that Meg and I both commented upon recently.
The exploration I did begin with the importance of the litugical
calendar as a framework that Weisenburger mentions as corresponding to
major events in WWII. From there, I went from the earth's precession,
to the signs of the birth of a king of the Jews, the possible birth of
the christian demigod, and the synchronistic symbolic representation of
said demigod by a fish (Ichthys). I remain less than convinced that
any of this has much to tell us, including the original Weisenburger
and Ruchs contentions. At any rate, you can probably find my original
posts in the archives or I can send them to you offlist, rather than
repost them on the list.
