greetings all,

personally, i haven't noticed anything in the digest which would suggest anyone
posting under more than one identity in recent weeks as RJ suggests is the case.
perhaps RJ would be so kind as to mention the threads where this supposed
conspiracy has taken place (if not the identities of the supposed conspirators)?


i myself spent a brief period posting under the pseudonym "fausto v /
epicheir at hotmail.com" a few months back; but this was because the mailer i had
been using at the time was tacking on a bunch of extra shite at the end of my
posts.

(speaking of which, it would be really nice if everyone who posts could take a
look at the digest version of pynchon-l sometime and ask themselves "how could i
get rid of all that extra shite (html, routing info, etc) that gets appended to
my posts" if extra shite is indeed getting appended to their posts)

as someone else pointed out, if you really-really-really don't like a particular
person's (or entity's) posts, the delete key works just fine. a-and even if what
RJ suspects is true, perhaps these internal dialogs are of merit, perhaps they
aren't (eg if RJ were referring to the puerile "ian scuffling" persona then it
would be decidedly less than intersting - whereas if, say, TRP himself or one of
his celebrated disciples / imitators were posting under a gang of psuedonyms
then it would probably be more interesting, imho). 

again, if RJ could please be a bit more specific about which threads are
involved then perhaps we could make some sort of judgement and have something to
say about it.(though i must admit that when i was a child and used to play a
game called "dungeons & dragons" i tended to find people who insisted on playing
more than one character simultaneously consistently annoying).

and personally, i find the last few days' millisonic ruckus betwixt Doug and the
PM-RJ-MD triumvirate kind of interesting and not approaching a level which would
warrant taking it to alt.flame. no one in particular seems to be playing the
troll. and in a way it adds a menippean satire element to the GRGR discussion.
