I happen to be on a list that is moderated and I find that that there is
essentially no interference with anything that is said or done on the list.
Periodically the list owner makes certain fascist statements like,
"everyone needs to make their signature files four lines or less", but
everyone seems to ignore these suggestions.
Regardless, suyggestions like this are annyoing and there is just too much
irony if a fascist element is introduced to a list dedicated to Thomas
Pynchon,
However, when individual is allowed to post on the list under the name of
another list member (don't worry, not you s~Z), I find that there probably
needs to be someone who can pull the plug on certain users.
As far as making other list members take their discussions off list, I
think if we make a concerted group effort to remind individuals that their
discussions have become of little interest to other members, then there
should be no problem.
