Did Plato really believe the forms existed?

What are the forms?

Are they the same in all of the dilologues or different?

Can they be known? How?

What has the soul to do with the forms?

If they can be known, can they be taught?

Pynchon is very interested in Plato's ideas on music. Why?

Beginning one week from today (Mon., May 3) this list will
be the site
of a group read and discussion of _Gravity's Rainbow_. The
usual antics
will continue, so please identify posts to the discussion by
typing
GRGR(xx) in the subject line. xx = the number of the section
being
discussed in your post. The protocol for hosting has been
left to the
indiscretion of each host. The function of the host is to
make sure at
least one person has read and focused on each section and is
responsible
for putting some material out there to stimulate
interaction. If you
don't like the host's performance, add whatever you wish to
the
discussion. So, on May 3, Jesse 'Moe' Howard will kick
things off by
leading a discussion of pp. 1-19.

This has been a public service announcement.
