"In 'Reinardus' an osseous violin is called 'ossea ut dominus Blicero', by which 
there can be meant nothing else but Death, may that name the pale one [- den 
bleichen] or the one that is showing his teeth [- den bleckenden], or, what I'd 
prefer, be it the name Blidger, Blicker with only an indication of those terms. 
Here an osseous horsehead is given to the wolf, as the one who is experienced in 
funny games (jokulandi gnarus), mockingly in addition to the violin, bony and 
pale like a skeleton." 


The name "Blicker" also refers to the German word "Blick(en)" = "(to) look".
