Speaking only from comparing the few personal experiences in the late 60's
(when I was shockingly young (13/14) to be so experimenting), to the time
about two years ago when I tried it again while attending a Phish concert.
The stuff I did in the 60's brought on wild visual and auditory
hallucinations: trees in the woods became friendly giants pointing out my
way down the path, a Xmas tree became a large insect-like creature. On one
especially strong trip, I found myself on another planet where everyone
moved in a choreographed manner, and later the whole world squeezed into a
round portal surrounded by blackness, transforming into a yin/yang symbol.
A little too scary for me at the time, and I begged to come back home.
I eventually swore it off, but when I tried it again at the Phish concert,
lots of body sensations, like very potent Xtasy, but no wild visuals. Maybe
it was my youth. Maybe it wasn't LSD, but X. But back then, even a "mild"
dose of LSD brought on some hallucinations.
Who knows?
