GRGR (13): Schwarzknabe, Schwindel, Gruss Gott

 In all 3 cases ( see GRC, p. 152, 160) Weisenburger's translation is wrong.  
 "Schwarzknabe" is "Black-boy" (- not "Black-child"), "Schwindel" is "swindle"  
 (- not "swindler") and "Gruss Gott", which actually should have been "Grüss 
 Gott" (- in most cases, take for example "Bleicheröde" or "Schwarzgerät", 
 Pynchon reproduces the Umlaute adequately), is "Greet God!" (- not "Great 
 God!"), which is (was?) used like "Hello!" in some southern and eastern parts  
 of Germany. - KFL
