There are so many "doubles" in GR, it gets very confusing and hard to
follow, but: The "Sons" (Slothrop, the two half-brothers: Tchitcherine &
Enzian, and Gottfried) all seem to "map" onto each other in various ways.
How exactly and why? Don't know, but in this scene with Geli, she tells
Slothrop, after he's given the owl the Baby-Ruth, that Wherner only feeds
when Tchitcherine is around. Tchitch is s'posed to be w/ Geli by then, but
is late (or is he?). Then Slothrop is given Tchitch's boots, a form of
identity.
I think we will also see later that Tchitcherine is a/the Westwardman, as is
Slothrop (but where is Slothrop's Whappo?). What does this all mean? Is
there a way to resolve/unite these identities? Probably so in some crevice
of TRP's mind, but it remains to be seen if access to that crevice will be
found.
Still Searching,
David Morris
