Indeterminacy

Indeterminacy has many different meanings. Long before
Toynbee (or whom ever you prefer) coined the term
postmodern, indeterminacy enjoyed wide currency in
philosophy. Extending the term to moral or ethical matters
is very problematic. I suggest Brian McHale's chapter on
Love and Death in postmodern fiction as a place to start.

"Love, it appears, makes fiction go round; or at least it
circulates everywhere in fiction."
