If I remember rightly I flew in one as recently as 1979--from Tampa to
Havana. I think it was a 3 the Cuban Airline used rather than the later
DC-6 because some of the passengers were bothered by the lack of
pressurization in the cabin. 6s were pressurized. More engines too. Being
of ancient age I flew in many DC-3s in the 50s. During the war they were
called Dakotas (think John and Yoko). They were made by Douglas Aircraft
later McDonnell Douglas, now Boeing. (not that any have been made for many
decades I suppose)
