Howdy,

I've no evidence, but I'll bet that the Unicorn figure predates the
discovery of Narwhales or their horns, and that Dragons predate the
discovery of any lizard bigger than a crocodile.  The Horn of the one
needs no more basis in zoological reality than the Fire of the other. 
Such creatures are Symbolical Fabulations.  Why, I've got one horn here
myself, which was to be tamed, I was told, through the adoption of an
a-sexual Ideal of Love. Hopefully I do not have Breath of Fire.
