It' that old devil mania to erase distinctions (Leveler that he is)
between conscious states and even  between personae. Is the final erasure
drawing nigh? Who sez we even need separate characters, sez Pynchon. (no,
sez the text)

The day opened to glorious sunshine but there was a whole lot of thinking
and fearing and hoping on the hozizon.
