GRGR(10) - Dodson-Truck's Engineer's Poetry

Howdy

"Engineer's poetry" -- neatly sums up one of the unique attributes of
P's work.

Any handy translations for "popular wartime expression *ab-hauen*?"
or "conversion of horsepower to *Pferdestarke?"

Dodson-Truck strikes me as among the most sympathetically presented
characters in GR.  The marginal nerd, eunuch, cuckold, left with very
few resources indeed he "...(tries) at being friendly in the only way
he has available, sharing what engages and runs him, a love for the
Word."

It flatters Slothrop's character that though he partly apprehends
Katje's and D-T's roles as tools of the Adversaries he cannot reach, he
seems to regard both of them with genuine (if provisional) affection.
