Hello J.P.
Never heard of that story. Sounds like the Warner Bros. trying to stop the
Marx Bros. setting up a Casablanca-movie. Who owned the term "Bros." before?
What I mean is that neither "The" nor "Paranoids" can be copyrighted, and
the combination?
. . . cannot imagine TRP such a Bill-Gates-like person. But why not ask him:
Thomas Pynchon

> My name's J.P. Cyr, and I'm new to the list. I've got a specific question
that I'm hoping somebody can help me with (yes, i'm here 2 minutes and
already bugging y'all for info) . . .

naming the entity has been troublesome. The three members have all agreed

recollect reading somewhere that old Thomas grew quite annoyed at someone
who'd previously tried to do the same, to the extent of legally "blocking"
the use of the name.

> Am I correct on that count? I would not want to take the name if it were
to draw the ire of Mr. Pynchon . . . I've also searched the web at great
length

leading me to suspect that my remembrance is indeed true. Yet I can't seem
to find any info on the subject.

please let me know. If not, that's fine as well. I'd really appreciate any
info you on the subject!
