New Subscriber / Use of the name The Paranoids

Hello - 

My name's J.P. Cyr, and I'm new to the list.  I've got a specific question that I'm hoping somebody can help me with (yes, i'm here 2 minutes and already bugging y'all for info) . . .

I am forming a band and, though we have a great 45 minute set together, naming the entity has been troublesome.  The three members have all agreed
that we'd love to name ourselves The Paranoids;  however I seem to recollect reading somewhere that old Thomas grew quite annoyed at someone who'd previously tried to do the same, to the extent of legally "blocking" the use of the name.

Am I correct on that count?  I would not want to take the name if it were to draw the ire of Mr. Pynchon . . . I've also searched the web at great length
looking for someone else who's used the name, and have found nothing - leading me to suspect that my remembrance is indeed true.  Yet I can't seem to find any info on the subject.

If any of you know definitively of a case like that mentioned above, please let me know.  If not, that's fine as well.  I'd really appreciate any info you on the subject!
