Ill-mannered?  Moi?  I gives what I gets, I guess.   But sorry I missed the
beginning of the discussion, and, esp., that post, Doug.  Guess you and Otto
split the Tommy (or whatever) here.  Really, the single biggest, best
Revelation I've had of late.  Literally slapped my forehead for not seeing
it myself (although I will note that I've largely been focusinmg on passages
under particular discussion since I signed on, but ...).  But, just to
corroborate, had someone on hand read that passage, and just that passage,
someone who knows nothing of Pynchon, Gravity's Rainbow, and/or our
discussion thereof.  He immediately asked if it was a description of
prisoners arriving at a concentration camp ...
