M&D music

I've listened to Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits a bit in my days, and
although I've heard that he is a very bright and intellectual guy I don't
think that his music could capture the spirit of P's novels. Lately I've
actually been thinking about music inspired by, or at least capturing some
of the spirit in P's novels, and I think that the live-versions of "Shore
Leave" Tom Waits played on last year's tour would fit on a soundtrack to P's
works. I wonder what Mr P himself would say on this matter since he likes to
put all these songs into his novels.
