Howdy

I believe that GR must have existed, in embryo at least, before V was
put into its final form. How else to explain all the splendid GR
V-material which P avoided using up in "V"? Evidence of the old
glazzies, droogie...

I don't personally find Doug's idea of the single giant novel gradually
coming to being persuasive. I can easily imagine all of them existing
in outline simultaneously, and gradually being fleshed out and reworked
over the decades, and can even imagine that Vineland, despite its
V-title, might have been a recreational excursion of sorts.

Might we await the "Japanese Insurance Adjustor" as a siysyphian coda?
A pacific-theater(re) pendant to the european-theater GR, forming a
dyptic composition?

muttering into my pint again,
Mark
