Are you implying that "synthesis" is an enemy in GR.
You qualify this above. Does GR only deny the wrong
synthesis, or does it point to an alternative?

I'd have to agree with this on a most general level,
but does this imply GR posits a "real (religious)"
escape? I agree this is the grail: escape,
transcendence. The S&M ritual formalizes, makes
managable, the defacto (by corolary) Rule of Death
(and maybe attempts to reign-in Chaos), but it is not
transcendence. It is accomodation.

I think he almost insists that we know M's story. The
lessons M. has learned in his past life are powerful,
but what has he learned? Whatever he's learned, it
has united him with Enzian and the scores of
"passed-over," even as he accepts Hitler's regime.
