Bingo!
The CIA is very dirty by design. It operates rogues
and pseudo-rogues all slithering by with "plausible
deniability" cloaks. It has S&M in its nature.
Mailer's _Harlot's Ghost_ was a nice "view" into his
take of the organization. Whether informed or
(merely) imaginative, it was entertaining and well
written.
