These factor certainly had to do with his crimes and no doubt also with
his reaching farther than his grasp. But don't you think such ease of
marching around the Maginot Line and pushing the Brits into the
English Channel would give just about anyone a feeling of invincibility?
I certainly don't discount the other causes you mention however.
