I must say that it did concern me that

as reported at the quite reputable site David Morris pointed to at

which had been used as a link to that page about picturesque alleys in
Greenwich Village. Such absurd speculations can only serve to discredit the
man and diminish the potency of his fictive vision imo.
I was interested to read that "In a rare public statement to CNN, Pynchon
denied writing the letters" in the same altculture bio, however. Assuming
that this is correct (and assuming it refers to the "Tinasky" blather), I'm
glad that that furphy has been put to rest at least.
