Uh...  well, first I should say I'm no scholar or anything and so I'm easily 
prone to fuckups, but for one thing trp's work doesn't strike me as dualist 
(tends to mock that, doesn't he?), and he seems too open to be nailed down to 
such a particular mythos.  The mandala thing was just an example from the 
traditions with different origins than Gnosis.  The implied question being 
that why isn't anybody claiming Pynchon be described as an adopted herero or 
something?  Syncretic seems to be the most wide open term w/r/t religion, and 
so the most appropriate one to describe an author who's willing to delve into 
any culture's (potentially paranoid) myths/stories/explanations, and to try 
to dig it.

Or something like that.
