Just reading here, but... It seemed quite plausible to me that K would be
alarmed at this intrusion of her fantasy world into the "reality" of the
book. What I mean, there is a high degree of confusion here between "what is
really happening" and "what K is imagining" -- I would be alarmed to find
myself in a similar [substituting J for K] situation, feel like I must be
going crazy.
