Perhaps I could have said rational thinking, or logical thinking. This
would still include what Derrida does. Would it always include what
Pynchon does? In the creative process the novelist must entertain and
express irrational fears on occasion (along with the rest of us in
ordinary life). But does he (do we) entertain and express them
logocentrically? Gotta think about that one.
