Not at all. I´ve been reading a lot of them but cannot find a special
pynchonian way of emphasizing, just the important things or a title or
something in foreign language. In dialogues it´s easy, just read´m aloud:
titles:
"_On Preterition_
_How I came to love the people_" (547)
dialogue:
"Next time we run across that Englishman," Dzabajew looking curiously at his
hands on the steering-wheel, "American, or whatever he is, find out, will
you, where he _got_ this shit?" (392)
"What´s the _most_ frequent word?" (32)
important:
"to Mexico belongs the domain _between_ zero and one - "
on p. 442 there are several italic German words describing dope-qualities in
wine-drinkers language.
