Translation off topic

Hi
It´s about translation but not about Pynchon.
It happens that I´m reading Virtual Light (William Gibson), translated. The
translation is very well done.
But yesterday I found something that confused me a lot (later, if all you
are interested I´ll try to explain).
So, I need some help: I need the explanation that Skinner gives Yamazaki
about the things that were said to cause AIDS at the end of chapter 30. If
you have it, please, send me it off-list.
