Vineland Query

I recently obtained a copy of _The Vineland Papers: Critical Takes on
Pynchon's Novel_, a collection with which I'm sure most of you are
familiar (I was surprised to even find it, considering Amazon.com claims
the publisher has been out-of-stock for some time).

Anyway, I was intrigued by the final work in the collection, "Smoking
Dope with Thomas Pynchon: A Sixties Memoir" by Andrew Gordon.  How
reliable is this piece?  Is Mr. Gordon someone of significant academic
repute?  Is this one of the few published "episodes" of a TRP sighting,
or are there many others?  I'm just curious.

Also, FYI --- Chicago's Newberry Library will conduct a seminar on GR in
the fall.  The seminar will be held over several Saturdays.  I'll post
more info when I get it.
