the folly of maintaining the integrity of such lofty institutions at the
expense of individual and mass suffering lends credence to those who
subscribe to hating mother church down through the ages. We can look at
Pius' record and not be surprised by his actions, but like the CIA or
technology w/ a capital "T", refusing to address the infallability issue as
not worthy of criticism, one either ends up acting in concert w/ mother
church as the CIA does (as does the NYPD)by self-examination of its
ills(which are deemed illusory by such bodies) or by putting the blame on
the trigger and not the finger (look out ma..shelter me from the powder and
the finger) we are reminded that these systems inherently are made to kill
folks like us. That such systems are cloaked in the veils of religion,
democracy, or progress, usw is surely a symbol for humankind's utter
degradation of itself and what it seemly strives to overcome and transcend.
at the end of the review, you'll note our present pontiff's canonization of
Pius is looked at as ultimately bewildering. Many in the church acted
bravely in resisting the Nazis, but to canonize the lot via its head, is
surely self-congratualtion at best, at worst, a confirmation of the return
of the centralized, oppressive papacy, symbolized by John-Paul 2nd.
