Giacomo Biffi gegen Mozart
==
Liedermachern' anlaufen." RB
amateur translation (but still, I like to think, superior to the Fish):
"The Catholic church has created a new scapegoat: Wolfgang A. Mozart.
"According to Italian clerics, Mozart 'wrote arrogant (?) masses and turned
the Church into a theater.'
"For this reason, the ?erbosten? leaders of the church see in Mozart the
predecessor of popular music in the Church.
"Under the patronage of the conservative Cardinal Giacomo Biffi there will now
start, as of 09/16/92, a de jure (?) campaign in the Congress for Holy Music,
against the 'poor music of writers of Lieder'."
['Lieder' is German for 'songs', also it means a specific genre of song that
Mozart is known for.]
