I haven't noticed it mentioned here before, but under the theory that twice
is better than not at all let me tell you about a film that is included on
the CD-ROM that is a part of the April 2000 issue of Yahoo Internet Life.
The films on the disc are billed as "Free Movies From the Net." (They don't
identify the site from which this one was culled.) Their blurb is as follows:
DESCENT by Kevin Souls
DESCENT is an intense visual journey through the theater of war. It's also
the loudest art film we could make. Based on a section from Thomas
Pynchon's Gravity's Rainbow, DESCENT follows the path of a V2 rocket
through a montage, which is both surreal and sardonic. Sit back, relax and
enjoy the show...it's only war!
Kevin Souls was raised in the pastoral abyss of Westchester County, New
York. He immigrated to Los Angeles to attend the USC Graduate Film School.
DESCENT is the final product of that adventure.
