yes, it's funny to witness cerebral people trying to skip over such good old 
mundane and cliched logic as "be nice" or "don't fling retorts with disregard 
for your target"  (well maybe that second example is a bit too prolix...)

 I've had my share of disagreements with Doug in the past, and generally I am
 against list moderation. But if people get called "nazis" just because they
 argue in favour of a moderated list I am almost ready to change my mind.
 Besides, if Doug is a nazi then nazism is really nothing to worry about, or,
 more harshly, calling Doug a nazi or associating him with nazi ideology to
 me seems to be a belittling of nazi crimes past and present.

 P.S. I have read the follow-up postings of both sides and I think there is
 much to be said against the style of discussion of either participant. But
 this is not the subject of this post. The subject is that I don't think the
 word "nazi" should be applied so gratuitiously and irresponsibly.
