On the front page of this morning's _Frankfurter Allgemeine_:

"Namibian Politicians want German Money for Landreform

Leading government and opposition politicians in Namibia have demanded that
Germany participate financially in the landreform of its former colony. The
word in Windhuk is that Germany created the land problem in Namibia and
therefore has a moral obligation to help. Officially, the Namibian
government has not yet made this demand on Berlin, but it is expected to do
so soon. Until now, the government had rejected officially demanding
compensation from Germany. Such compensation derives from the demands of
members of the Herero people, whose majority was killed or exiled by German
protective forces during the colonial era. In Namibia, 44 percent of the
land belongs to 4000 farmers, overwhelmingly descended from Germans or
Afrikaners. The government of Zimbabwe has likewise demanded payment for
landreform from the former colonial power, Great Britain."
