"Currently reading "White Teeth" - novel du jour by a young British woman
named Zadie Smith. Our 2 heroes, Archie and Samad meet cute in a tank
during WWII, which breaks down .................."

a-a-and I've just started reading The Tunnel by William Gass, which looks like
it might have quite a bit to say about Germany WW2. I'm only 12 pages in, and it
looks a long haul, but I am presuming/hoping it will be worth it. He likes
similes a LOT. It is interesting how large WW2 still looms in our society - the
outrage directed at nazi germany is still white hot (as it should be), but it
seems to me that it is/was so scary because these are fellow humans who did
this, and we all suspect that it may be in each of us somehow, buried deep,
suppressed but not absent. the anger of confronting the jungian shadow? just
musing.
