How do they say in the chaos theory? The hidden attractor? I think that  the 
Shoah/Holocaust is the "hidden attractor" of GR. How could you represent the 
Holocaust in literature? There are enormous problems to write about it, 
describing it "correctly"... Pynchon knew this. Even survivors of the 
Holocaust had huge difficulties writing books about their experiences. The 
best books of survivors were written by Hungarian authors; one of them whose 
name I can't remember at the moment wrote 20 years about his time in 
Auschwitz as a young boy. "After Auschwitz you cannot write a poem any 
longer", Adorno said. I  don't agree with him but I think that you can only 
describe it in an indirect or/and metaphorical way. So Pynchon did.
