  confronted with the lyrics of paul celan (- the "todesfuge" was recently 
  quoted here by otto), adorno questioned his famous statement in later years. 
  "the ongoing suffering has as much right to express itself as the tortured 
  one to scream; that's why it probably was wrong to say that a poem could 
  not be written after auschwitz". see "negative dialektik" [1966], page 355.   
  there also this: "genocide is the absolute integration, which prepares itself 
  everywhere where people are made equal ... auschwitz confirms the   
  philosophical issue of pure identity as death".

  "dialektik der ordnung".
