Not sure which way is more difficult here. But, at least with the
digest, I don't have that comulsion towards eternal vigilance, so ...
Well, hardly up on my contemporary German authors (among many other
things ...), although I did neglect to put money on Gunter Grass for the
Nobel Prize this past round (having called Kenzaburo Oe a few years back
... but Szymborska? Fo? Who'd've thunk it? But 2001, now there's an
opportunity for a Statement ... Bei Dao, perhaps ([just going by buzz
here], but mebbe even that Thomas Pynchon ...). But notice Peter
Handke's name here, is it worth hunting down his The Goalie's Anxiety at
the Penalty Kick? A friend in the know thought the Wim Wenders film
thereof would appeal, so ... but anyone familiar with Christoph
Ransmayr? Dog King? Sounded interesting ...
