"GR tries to ver-ride the whole idea of solutions to
dualisms, moral, logical or rhetorical by treating them
aspects of a single side of another dualism which has the
moral, logical or rhetorical dilemma on one side and the
material on the other. "

They claim that humanist readings that assert that TRP has
captured a new essence for humanity (I think it is clear he
longs, yearns, is nostalgic in the Adams sense), thus
returning the human subject and subjectivity to the novel
simply cannot hold and that the technologistic critics (and
we can add in a bunch of other approaches here too) fall
apart a well because TRP's books do not allow such readings
or allow them and their opposite.

"What next?"

A Hot air balloon made in California.

I agree with Paul, these are the guys to discuss just now.

Paul, I doubt that focusing on the reader or the reading
process, as McHale does, and McHale wrestled with this tag
team remember, gets us very far.

I think Murthy is on to it. Zen and the art of Pynchon
criticism.

Savagely yours,

Doug
