So long as we're airing things, and so long as Millison has opened the door
to "the way it used to be," it might be instructive to those of you who feel
Millison is in any way the target of unfair and ad hominem attack, to hear
some more history.
Shortly after I first joined the P-list, some number of years ago, I received
an email off-list from Millison, of whom, at the time, I was little aware and
with whom I had had no personal exchange either on- or off-list. The email,
which I found astonishing, demanded to know what I thought I was doing on the
list; that I, apparently, owed this stranger some explanation. Even more
astonishing, in this same email, Millison begged me not to tell Andrew Dinn
that he had sent it. [Andrew Dinn was, at the time, a knowledgeable and
regular contributor to whom Millison stood in relation as does a spaniel to
his master; Millison was occasionally dressed down on-list by Andrew, such
scoldings absorbed without comment.] Anyway, I told Millison that the email
was cowardly, to go fuck himself, and blocked his mail from my inbox. I also
mentioned the incident on-line, a breach, apparently, of some protocol of
which I was unaware, although I would have done so in any case, given the
nature of the business. (I'm doing it again.)
Thereafter, I know from more than one source, he lobbied off-list to have me
thrown off, something he denies. It is, however, quite true. Indeed, he has
often proclaimed on-list no desire ever to censure or block any contributors,
but I am by no means the only person he has sought to ban.
It is this astonishing presumption and dishonesty that has made Millison his
many enemies. It's true that his grating manner and crowing voice, coupled
wrated, were he honest in his motives and debate.
Alas, he is not.
