Hello, I just joined up on the list today. I'm seventeen, and I first read
Pynchon my junior year. I found GR by chance, browsing at Barnes and Noble
for something to read. I read it in about a month. Recently I was browsing
the internet for some help in interpretation, when I came across Siegel's
Lineland, which led me to this list. I hope I can help provide some
insightful views. Thanks for having me.

Oh, about Pynchon and corporations. In the 20's, when historians began to
decipher our involvement in WWI, much blame was heaped on the so-called
"merchants of death" arms dealers, ammunition makers, etc. These
manufacturers were seen as profiting from war. I believe (it's been a while)
Pynchon had something to say about them in GR. Furthermore, Pynchon seems to
have touched on many peoples paranoia of large corporations (who doesn't fear
Bill Gates?) I realize I'm reaching but it's been a long day and I'm tired. I
hope my point is valid enough for all you Pynchon fans.
