I'm not sure if this casts any light on the LSD dating discussion, but you
may still want to know that John Lennon had his first LSD experience back in
1964, when the first samples of the substance were brought to Britain by
Michael Hollingshead, the man who turned on Timothy Leary.
Hollingshead, sent off to England by his former apprentice, established a
branch of his Castalia Foundation on Pons Street and ran about town spiking
everybody's drink. Before he was locked up in Leyhill Prison (for
possession of cannabis because LSD was not yet illegal), he furnished Victor
Lownes, the manager of the Playboy Club, with a quantity of acid. It was
from this stock that the Beatles first partook of the Philosopher's Stone.
And who are the Paranoids anyway?
