Im going back and forth on this vision of 
Uncle. The description is brief. I'm not sure
that the description is that of a drugged
Uncle Sam. The description is accurate. 
Uncle does look exactly as he is described. 
Perhaps I don't think violently rouged cheeks
are in any way associated with drug addiction,
booze yes, but the jaundice, the sunken
yellow cheeks seem to be those of a sick 
man if not a junckie and his eyes gleaming
unhealthily are also an accurate description of the 
famous portrait, but I think the idea that
Uncle is sick is what Oedipa has a vision of
anyway. If he is a drug user I think we will
need more evidence of this.
