Which reminds me ...

No, I need not reply. But, of course, I will ...

On whose behalf do you protest here? Not your own,
I'm assuming, not for any reason I can discern, at any
rate. No problem there, as I was of course myself
speaking out against the abuse regularly heaped on
Doug here, and often--typically--with seemingly no
immediate provocation ...

More than anything, it's the gang mentality that often
seems to ensue that bothers me. Once one person has
knocked another to the ground, everybody rushes up to
get their boot in. Or is it worse to stand back and
take a sadistically voyeuristic pleasure in letting
others do the dirty work? But perhaps you're not
protesting on David's behalf, either. Let me know ...

Violence begets violence? But what's the point in
claiming to be burying the hatchet when you're burying
it between someone's shoulder blades? Again, this is
why I've spoken up at this point. At least let's let
the list settle down for a while, at least once in a
while ...

Certainly easier to go about posting on the subject at
hand (say, any given text by one Thomas R. Pynchon,
Jr.) with a clear conscience that way. Don't like
that desire to ignore certain posts, posters. That
Samaritan impulse of mine. Anyway, a kinder, gentler
list would not go unappreciated here. Perhaps even
not by yourself? Again, let me know ...
