Yr much welcome.  Cartography's a longstanding
interest of mine, my earliest datable memory is
getting aglobe for my second Christmas (that, or
smacking my dad in the face with an Etch-a-Sketch
after watching a Three Stooges short; teevee violence
was much frowned upon in the household after that
episode ...).  But the prescience of that Brian Jarvis
chapter (from his Postmodern Cartographies) given the
appearance on Mason & Dixon betwixt writing and
publication more than makes up for such egregious
errors as ...

"... Benny Profane is driven underground, beneath the
streets, to the waste and promissory darkness of the
New York sewer system.  Here ... he joins up with a
gang of poor Italian immigrants ...." (Jarvis, p. 58)

You know, I believe I've seen that one pointed out
elsewhere (here? where?) ...
